Dear Family Members, Friends and Staff,
I hope this letter finds safe and healthy. Please remember to wear mask, social distance and most important to wash hands often!
Mitigation strategies: We will continue to update policies, procedures and educate staff per CDC guidelines. We have a dedicated isolation unit for residents who show symptoms of COVID-19 or those that are admitted with or test positive for COVID-19. At this time, we have adequate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). We will continue to conduct rounds to assure PPE is used properly. We will also continue to monitor anyone who enters the facility for known signs and symptoms of the COVID 19 virus and will not allow anyone with symptoms to enter the facility. Finally, we have added the following safety measures: Electrostatic Sprayers for enhanced coverage of disinfectants, HEPA Filters and/or Needlepoint Ionization systems to improve air purification and Thermoscans for touchless temperature monitoring and proper facemask checks.
Harper Woods will continue to follow current testing requirements for residents and staff.
The Michigan Health Department has open LIMITED visitation with following guidelines:
· Facility must not have had any positive cases of COVID 19 in the last 14 days
· Mask must always be worn
· Social Distancing
· A NEGATIVE COVID test in last 72 HOURS must be provided to the facility prior to visit.
· All visitors will be screened and educated on proper PPE usage
· Must Acknowledge acceptance of visit and infection protocols
· No sharing of food during visits
· No pets
· 30-minute limitation for visit

We have started the process of testing all residents and staff in the facility that have not been tested with the first 30 completed.
40 Graduations from the isolation unit with an additional 16 residents that discharged home after recovering from COVID.
We continue to follow all CDC guidelines and update policies, procedures and educate staff as changes occur We also continue to follow the “No Visitor” Executive Order guidelines and monitor anyone who enters the facility for known signs and symptoms of the COVID 19 virus and will not allow anyone with symptoms to enter the facility.
Some highlights from our Life Enrichment teams this week include: Starting small groups following CDC guidelines and social distancing. In the upcoming weeks we are going to using our courtyards for activities.
We encourage you to “visit” your family/friend via a window visit or arrange an online video chat. Please notify Kim Jones to schedule this time so we can be sure your family member/friend is available at that time.
Thank you for your continued support and trust in our facility. We truly appreciate you. Feel free to contact me any time at 313-881-9556
