Long-Term Care

You or your loved one has experienced a health crisis. You have just left the hospital where you were told that it’s not yet time to go home. Additional medical care is needed and you have less than 48 hours to decide.

What will you do?

Priorities to Consider:

Find a location that is convenient and provides the care you need.

Is IV antibiotic required? Is IV feeding required? Is specialized dementia or Alzheimer’s programming needed? The Orchards provides post hospital care for these conditions as well as for individuals recovering from stroke, surgery, and debilitating diseases. For additional service offerings, click here.

The Orchards Michigan has communities throughout Wayne and Macomb Counties. For a listing of our communities, click here.

Feel comfortable with the staff who will be taking care of your loved one.

The Orchards staff is warm, friendly and compassionate. Our mission goes beyond the physical to the spiritual, emotional, and social aspects of life. We are here to assist you and your loved one with this transition.

Seek out a loving, peaceful and warm environment.

No one place fits every individual the same way. Look for an environment that will make you or your loved one feel safe, comfortable, and well-cared for. Visit locations with an eye to the small details—the little features and environmental factors that help make the difference between a good day and a bad one.

At The Orchards, our  communities and programs can offer the right supports for individuals who can no longer live independently due to medical conditions. We’ll help you stay on track and ensure a life with purpose, meaning and fulfillment.

Memory Care

Our dementia and Alzheimer’s programs, celebrated by families and physicians, helps residents with dementia communicate. Our staff is specially trained to work with individuals with memory problems. Our memory care units are different from others because they have been developed to help the individual become an active part of the community. The secure units keep you or your loved one safe, while helping each and every resident lead a life of purpose.

Our memory care units are designed to support the individual person through the process of the disease. We also have support programs for families. We partner with the Alzheimer’s Association to develop programming, support groups, and more to provide the best care we can.

Post-Surgical Recovery

When you or a loved one are discharged from the hospital, there may be a need for additional medical care that cannot be provided at home.  The Orchards is here to help.

Our therapy teams, overseen by rehabilitation physicians, specialize in helping people get well. Our therapists provide therapy seven days a week to help each resident reach his or her goals. Our advanced pain relief methods provide top-quality care and comfort.

Post-operative surgical care and rehabilitation therapy are among our key specialties. Whether it is emergency surgery or doctor recommended, our therapy team, overseen by a rehabilitation physician, specializes in helping people recover and meet their goals. Our therapists provide therapy seven days a week to help them get home as soon as possible.  We offer:

  • Physical therapy

  • Occupational therapy

  • Respiratory therapy

  • Speech therapy

  • Spa treatments

  • Aromatherapy

  • Jintronix

Our compassionate clinical team (physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, dietitians and social workers) works closely with our therapy team to provide 24 hour medical care including post-surgical care, respiratory support, wound care, and IV therapy.

Socialization & Life Enrichment

During a stay at Advantage Living Centers, you and your loved one will have opportunities to initiate, participate, or simply observe programs designed for self-expression or entertainment. Our life enrichment programs include:

  • Community service

  • Art classes

  • Card games

  • Outings to ball games, casinos, shopping, and more

  • Indoor and outdoor activities

Whether it’s a short-term stay or you or a family member has decided to make a home here, we welcome all gifts and talents to create programs that benefit not just our residents, but the communities around them.

Nutrition Help

Our dietitians review the diets of every resident upon admission. They will work with physicians to adjust each resident’s diet when necessary to help prevent and treat illnesses. High blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity are common health problems that dietitians work to improve. When our residents are ready to go home, our dietitians will provide recommendations on the type of food they should eat to achieve maximum health.

Therapeutic Support

Healing happens when the right care, in the right hands, is rendered at the right time. We offer solutions through service excellence—solutions that can help you heal quickly and get back to your life.

  • Physical therapy: the treatment of disease, injury, or deformity by physical methods such as massage, heat treatment, and exercise rather than by drugs or surgery.

  • Occupational therapy: a form of therapy for those recuperating from physical or mental illness that encourages rehabilitation through the performance of activities required in daily life.

  • Speech therapy: training to help people with speech and language problems speak more clearly.

  • Respiratory therapy: advanced airway management to support clear breathing

Our therapists use state of the art techniques such as our virtual reality programs, diathermy, ultrasound and electrical stimulation to help our clients rehabilitate. Our programs include but are not limited to:

  • Post-surgical support

  • Stroke recovery

  • Strengthening and Improvement

  • Respiratory and Tracheostomy

  • Cardiovascular improvement

  • Bowel and Bladder Care

Hospice Care

Hospice providers contract with us to support you and your family through end of life care. Our hospice services are designed to give comfort, pain relief and emotional/spiritual support throughout the transition.

Vacation/Respite Care

Overnight care is available for loved ones allowing caregivers a time to rest or take a well-needed vacation. Services include bathing, dispensing medications, daily activities and memory care. The minimum stay for this service varies by facility.

Therapeutic “Extras”
